UPDATE #3

These photos were taken from our Eco Warrior’s community in Jacana, Puerto Princesa City. Most of the houses were torn down by the strong winds of Typhoon Odette. Many were in total ruins and some have broken roofs and walls from their shanties which were made of materials they gathered from collecting garbages around our city.

We have initially distributed food packs and organized a community kitchen a day after the typhoon. We have been feeding lunch for 100 individuals daily for 2 weeks already through the help of the community-based leaders we have established through our ECO KOLEK Project from their local association called Samahan ng Mamamayan ng Jacana.

We are thankful for all the support that we have received (and still receiving) for our Eco Warriors who are in need of much help and attention during this crisis.

Project Zacchaeus brought water jugs to refill water bottles of our constituents in areas affected by Super Typhoon Odette in the northern part of Puerto Princesa.   As we continue to monitor them, we are more grateful for the support our partners and donors provide us to reach more people.   In this continuing journey, we and all our volunteers are filled with so much joy as we bring help to these communities, and how we are able assist in little ways like this.

657 vegetable seed packs, seedling trays, and food packages have been distributed today to our clustered farm members in Barangay Salvacion, Lucbuan, Manalo, Luzviminda, Mangingisda, and Inagawan.

This humble gesture will help our countryside farmers recover from the devastation of their farms during the onslaught of Super Typhoon Odette.

Thanking the support extended to us by our partners, the Puerto Princesa City Agriculture Office, through the leadership of Melissa Macasaet, and the Department of Agriculture.

PALAWAN NEEDS YOU!

Our province was declared under the State of Calamity after Super Typhoon Odette traversed our path on December 17, 2021. More than 22,000 families were affected losing their homes, animals, small fishing boats, and other sources of livelihood. There were reported deaths mostly from the rural and coastal areas.

With the fast recovery efforts being done by the government, the entire island is slowly regaining electricity, water, phone signal and internet. However, the damages to Odette’s victims leave us all speechless.

We need your HELP.  You may send whatever amount to help us deploy as much food and other necessities to our affected communities.

Project Zacch initially distributed food packs to its affected members who are families of waste pickers in Jacana from Project Eco Kolek, women vegetable sellers of Juana Fresh, lowland farmers from its Farm Konek project, and the coastal families of the Seaside Tailors. Vegetables, canned goods, noodles, rice, and clothes were given respectively.

With still limited resources on the aftermath of Odette, we were able to reach more than 100 families through the volunteerism of our staff who took rounds in the purchasing, packing, and distribution of goods to various communities that are reachable.

We already have partners that expressed support for our relief operation efforts to the victims of Super Typhoon Odette. This means that we will be able to reach more families who are in dire need of food, shelter, clothing, and water in the next coming days and weeks.
